Master in Advanced Pharmacotherapy
Are you a pharmacist looking to further your skills and knowledge in pharmacotherapy, including to provide complex pharmaceutical care in an interdisciplinary context?
This program is focused on direct patient care, primarily hospitalized and ambulatory clients. Improve your leadership and creativity while developing and enhancing your knowledge in advanced pharmacotherapy.
Two options are available for the Master in Advanced Pharmacotherapy (MAP):
- Health care facility practice: The internship year is primarily dedicated to providing pharmaceutical care to hospitalized patients.
- Ambulatory practice: This program option is intended for applicants heading for a pharmacist career in a community or ambulatory setting.
There is a possibility of part-time education for both the ambulatory practice option and the health care facility practice option. |
Program Overview
This 60-credit program includes a master’s degree in Advanced Pharmacotherapy (45 credits) and a Diploma Supplement in Advanced Pharmacotherapy (15 credits). Applicants must apply to both programs at the same time.
The first term is comprised of courses, workshops, and laboratories, followed by a full year of internships or residence:
- Students admitted to the health care facility practice option are assigned to a health care facility, which becomes their main residency location. However, students also do rotations at other internship sites.
All applicants admitted to the health care facility practice option can apply for a scholarship from Quebec’s Ministry of Health and Social Services.
- Applicants admitted to the ambulatory practice option are assigned to a community pharmacy, which becomes their primary residency location. Students will also complete internships in family medicine group/units, as well as in geriatrics and outpatient settings; however, their primary residency location will be their assigned community pharmacy.
Two scholarships of $30,000 are available for the ambulatory practice option.
For more information, please see the program leaflet (in French only), as well as the program description, structure, and course listing for the Master and Diploma Supplement in Advanced Pharmacotherapy.

Mandatory Laptop Computer
Students must use a laptop computer meeting the Faculty’s minimum requirements and technical specifications. Only the Mac OS and Windows 10 operating systems are authorized and support the examination software. Students are solely responsible for the proper functioning of their laptop computer.
Your laptop computer should be in working order for the full duration of your program of study.
If your computer is obsolete or in case of loss or damage, you are responsible for acquiring a new laptop computer meeting the applicable standards. Failure to comply with this requirement could prevent students from completing their examinations, which may result in failure by absence.
Please note the following:
- All examinations are laptop computer-based only. Other devices are not authorized.
- Although Windows supports the examination software, the software is currently encountering several issues with this operating system. Given this, the Program Directorate HIGHLY RECOMMENDS the use of an Apple laptop.
- Should a new version of the operating system be released during your program of study, delays in upgrading the examination software should be expected. For this reason, students must WAIT for the Faculty’s authorization before installing a new version of the operating software.
In exceptional cases of computer crash during an examination period, the Faculty of Pharmacy offers a short-term Computer Loan Program. This paid service is available as a six-month or annual subscription. Though not mandatory, a subscription is highly recommended.
