Options Available through an Exchange Program

Four options are available via our Faculty's exchange program:

One term in the PharmD undergraduate program

Students in this program acquire and develop knowledge and skills to become successful practitioners in the field of pharmacy. To be admitted as an exchange student to the PharmD program, you must be enrolled in one of the following higher education institutions:

  • Faculty (UFR) of Pharmacy at Université Joseph Fourier Grenoble 1
  • Faculty (UFR) of Medicine Pharmacy, Pharmacy section at Université de Rouen
  • Faculty of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at Université catholique de Louvain (UCL)

To take courses in the PharmD undergraduate program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have not yet obtained a degree in pharmacy
  • Be enrolled in one of the institutions mentioned above.
  • Contact the International Liaison Officer at your home institution to get all necessary information to submit your application.
  • Meet the general criteria of the Faculty of Pharmacy to take part in an exchange program.

Once your application is approved by the International Liaison Officer of your faculty, you can submit it to the Exchange Program at the Université de Montréal.

Other important information:

  • Use of a laptop computer meeting the Faculty’s standards is mandatory.
  • Your home institution will determine the courses available (maximum of 12 credits).
  • You are not eligible to internships in pharmaceutical care.

 

 

One term in the master’s program in Advanced Pharmacology

Are you a pharmacist looking to further your skills and knowledge in pharmacotherapy to provide complex pharmaceutical care in an interdisciplinary context? Then this is the program for you.

To be admitted as an exchange student to the master’s program in Advanced Pharmacotherapy, you must be enrolled in one of the following higher education institutions:

  • Faculty (UFR) of Pharmacy at Université Joseph Fourier Grenoble 1
  • Faculty (UFR) of Medicine Pharmacy, Pharmacy section at Université de Rouen
  • Faculty of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at Université catholique de Louvain (UCL)

To take courses in the master’s program in Advanced Pharmacotherapy, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a pharmacist degree and be enrolled in a hospital pharmacy program. - - -
  • Be enrolled in one of the institutions mentioned above.
  • Contact the International Liaison Officer at your home institution to obtain all necessary information to submit your application.
  • Meet the general criteria of the Faculty of Pharmacy to take part in an exchange program.

Once your application is approved by the International Liaison Officer of your faculty, you can submit it to the Exchange Program at the Université de Montréal.

Your home institution will determine the courses available (maximum of six credits).

Internships

The Academic Director of the master’s program in Advanced Pharmacotherapy can, in agreement with the International Liaison Officer of your home institution, suggest a practical pharmaceutical care internship in a health care facility. However, internship positions are very limited.

To complete an internship in pharmaceutical care, you must register with the Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec and obtain a registration card. The card issuance can take up to 90 days.

Drug Development Program

This specialization and professional development program offers you a course of training for a career in the pharmaceutical field in the biopharmaceutical industry, a government agency or a university hospital setting.

As part of an exchange program, you can apply to a program in the DESS in Drug Development with a typical duration of two terms.

To be admitted, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold an undergraduate degree.
  • Be selected by your home faculty.
  • Be enrolled in a signatory institution* with the Faculty of Pharmacy or the Université de Montréal.

* If you are enrolled with an institution that does not have an agreement with the Université de Montréal, you can apply to the CREPUQ agreement regarding student exchanges.

Research Residency

Undergraduate Students

Even if you are still earning your undergraduate degree, you can apply for an introduction to research residency at the Faculty of Pharmacy as part of an exchange program. This is an internship with a minimum duration of 12 weeks.

To be admitted, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Meet the general requirements to take part in an exchange program (see Requirements).
  • Be enrolled at an institution that holds an agreement with the Université de Montréal or the Faculty of Pharmacy. (see Partnerships and Agreements).

You must also meet with the International Liaison Officer of your faculty to obtain all the information in regards to documents required for your application and the deadlines for submitting your application.

Graduate Students

A research residency of a minimum of six weeks is available for students enrolled in Master 2 or doctoral (PhD) research programs. To be admitted, you must be enrolled in an institution that has entered into an agreement with the Université de Montréal or the Faculty of Pharmacy.

You are responsible for taking the necessary steps to secure a research director at the Faculty of Pharmacy to supervise your work.
