International Residencies for Faculty Students

 

To prepare for a rewarding internship experience abroad, the Maison internationale’s website is an excellent resource with useful information about available scholarships.

Fourth-year Internship with the PharmD Program

During their fourth year, students enrolled in the PharmD program have the opportunity to participate in an international experience as part of the PHA-4550 – Internship with optional theme (STOP).

International internships – European agreements

Below are the international internship locations, as selected by Faculty officials:

  • CHU Mont-Godinne – Yvoir, Belgium
  • Les Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc – Brussels, Belgium
  • CHU Grenoble – Grenoble, France
  • Hôpital de la Croix-Rousse – Lyon, France
  • CH Lucien Hussel – Vienne, France
  • CH Bertinot-Juel – Chaumont en Vexin, France
  • CHU de Rouen – Rouen, France
  • CHU d’Angers – Angers, France
  • Pharmacie Square Levie – Brussels, Belgium

Every year since 2010, these institutions have welcomed students for four-week internships. The maximum capacity for this component of the STOP internships is 16 fourth-year students.

Humanitarian Internships

Students can also opt to complete an internship in cooperation with Pharmaciens sans frontières, Alliance Santé Communautaire Canada-Afrique, or the Teasdale-Corti Foundation. To date, missions have been conducted in Uganda, Tanzania, Haiti, and Benin. About 15 students take part in those missions every year.

Internship in the Master’s program in Advanced Pharmacology

Students enrolled in the Master’s program in Advanced Pharmacology have the opportunity to participate in an international experience as part of the four-week internship with optional theme (STOP) PHA-6610.

Below are the internship locations, as selected by Faculty officials:

  • Centre hospitalier universitaire Mont-Godinne – Yvoir, Belgium
  • Les Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc – Brussels, Belgium
  • Centre hospitalier universitaire vaudois – Lausanne, Switzerland

The maximum capacity for this component of the STOP internships is three residents.

Students in the Master’s and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (research internship or joint thesis supervision)

Research Residency

With the consent of their research director, students in master’s and PhD programs can complete a research residency at a signatory institution.

Joint PhD Program and Co-advisorship (Cotutelle)

The Vice-Rectorate for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (ESP) gives graduate students the opportunity to conduct their thesis work under the joint supervision of a Thesis Supervisor from the Université de Montréal and a Thesis Supervisor from an international partner institution. This is known as a Co-Advisorship (Cotutelle). Throughout their program of study, students will spend time at both institutions and will defend their thesis in front of a bipartite committee.
